FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ONE GOVERNMENT ONE VOICE: ADM EXECUTIVE MAYOR CLLR ANELE NTSANGANI TO OFFICIALLY HANDOVER THE HOGSBACK BULK WATER SUPPLY PHASE THREE(3) COMPLETED PROJECT ADM HEADQUARTERS –

FRIDAY, 12 APRIL 2024

In line with the commitment towards selfless, excellent and sustainable service delivery to its communities, Amathole District Municipality (ADM) Executive Mayor Anele Ntsangani, will be launching one of many bulk water infrastructure projects, Hogsback Bulk Water Supply Phase 3 on 16 April 2024.

With the commencement of the project in November 2021, its completion is not only an integral part in the residential development of Bold Point settlement but is also an assurance of sustainable and reliable domestic water supply to Esikhululweni Village, which initially was serviced from the Plaaitjieskraal dam whose leaking status resulted in sporadic water availability in the area.

At a cost of R14.9 million, the multi-year Hogsback Bulk Water Supply Phase three (3) project will ensure that 2 945 households in Bold Point and Esikhululweni Village have access to sustainable domestic water supply. Following the appointment of contractors in November 2022, the project commenced in February 2023 and on completion was handed over to the institution on 15 March 2024. Some of the work carried out during the process consisted of the following;

  • Construction of a concrete apron slab at the water treatment works;
  • Renovations to existing WTW building
  • Construction of an elevated 205kl reservoir
  • Installation of two (2) high-lift pumps
  • Installation of 160mm gravity main to Bold Point
  • Installation of 75mm diam. Gravity main to Esikhululweni with standpipes During this time, 10 job openings were created benefitting seven (7) males and three (3) females.
