Amathole District Municipality's three-day Strategic Planning Session started this afternoon at
Mpekweni, in Ngqushwa LM.

ADM administrative and political leadership is embarking on a dedicated effort in its strategic planning session to proactively engage in plans that will ensure a robust and forward-looking framework to address the evolving needs and priorities of the municipality, in relation to its legislated mandate. Setting the tone for the session Executive Mayor Anele Ntsangani expressed the significance of the three-day planning as a platform to assess the challenges faced by ADM and rise above such to serve its communities. "We must emerge from this engagement with a greater sense of urgency and vigour to deliver high quality services to our people"- he said, adding that "ADM must be geared as a special purpose vehicle for a clean
accountable governance and quality service delivery".

The Municipal Manager, Dr Bhekisisa Mthembu's presentation on the state of the municipality, marked the beginning of a comprehensive planning process ahead. In line with the concept of heavy lifting, the all-inclusive approach aligns with ADM's commitment to transparent governance and collaborative decision-making. All with the aim of aligning the district’s priorities to its community’s needs.
In his welcoming address, ADM Speaker Onke Mgunculu shared the same sentiments urging all towards a positive mind shift. "The program itself is designed in a manner that allows for battle of ideas to flourish. I am therefore convinced that by the end of this Institutional Strategic Planning, we would have covered everything we need to come up with concrete plans. We are not where we were yesterday. Driven by our commitment to forge a better ADM, we will keep marching forward and we will do it together with all of you here today. In that march, let us not lose sight of the ultimate mandate we carry – to improve the lives of our people for the better"- he said.
