ONE GOVERNMENT ONE VOICE: PROVINCE AND DISTRICT PUTTING DDM INTO ACTION TO COMPLETE SPRING WATER PROJECTS IN ADM VILLAGES

ADM HEADQUARTERS – 02 APRIL 2024

In a joint effort to provide a common solution to accelerate access to clean drinking water, Amathole District Municipality (ADM) will be collaborating with department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform (DrDaR) in a cross-boundary initiative of reviving and installation of spring waters in aid of Kwaguquka, which is one of the villages the department aims to deliver spring water access to.

To finish the project, ADM will deploy 11 Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) workers whose capacitation by DRDaR will ensure that the installation project work for the Kwaguquka Village is completed and maintained.

At a District Mayors’ Forum engagement held last on 26 March 2024, Executive Mayor Anele Ntsangani welcomed the attestation by MEC Nonkqubela Peters relating to programme’s financial benefits which she proclaimed as not only cost effectiveness but were also void of any use of middleperson and tender processes.

According to Executive Mayor Ntsangani, use of EPWP workers is one other way that the spring water project will ensure that poor households have short to medium term income base.

“In addition to the importance of the use of EPWP for this project, is also the fact that beneficiaries will be from where they reside to not only create sense of ownership but to also ensure that its upkeep and maintenance remains a priority for the villagers” – said Ntsangani.

Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the event scheduled as follows:

Event : EPWP Spring Water Projects Beneficiaries Deployment

Date : 03 April 2024
